The inspiration for this bike came from the cafe racers from back in the day. I always loved that big massive tank and aggressive stance. This started life as a Batavus Regency. I had a beat up Tomos Streetmate that was less then cool to be seen on, however it had the disk brake, hidro front shocks, big headlight and fat tires. I stripped the Batavus down and got started by welding in a cross bar to hold the tank. I cut the engine mount off the stock Tomos frame and welded it to the Batavus frame. Then I added some bars to relocate the rear suspension as well as mount my pegs further back on the bike. To give it that nice long line the swingarm was stretched 5". Now that I had a rolling frame I needed the big tank. I found a tank that would be wide and tall enough, but it was short about 15" long, it was off an old Honda 3 wheeler. I added 5.5" to the back of it using fiberglass to give it the length I wanted and also that race look of the old cafe bikes. The seat was cut down and again fiberglass was used to make the hump on the back. I laid up some gloss black on the frame, semi flat black on the rims, and a deep cranberry on the tank and seat. The fork tubes where stripped and polished. After the bike was assembled the black frame hid all the little touches that went into it. So, the bike was taken down again and the frame received a bright red. The tank and seat were done in gray. The list goes on and on and I still have lots to do. Still to come are some pinstripes and seat cover.

THIS is what a "cafe" build should be!
