"Mild" Jialing Hobbit

Story time ya'll This bike came from OG Zero David, he had the stock cylinder ported by a local dirt bike shop, added a proma, modified a pa50-2 variator, and then let it sit for a decade. In that decade the ks was lost, the cylinder is somewhere, and it fell into disrepair. So as I've said before, all wayward projects find life in Toledo. This bike came to me, and I was gonna keep it "mild" just like David had intended. This is where things get fun, I took everything apart. I took one look at the weird ass square Jialing cases and just decided to, well not. I had some pa50-2 cases laying around, so I cleaned them up and got started. I rebuilt the bottom end with a Treats Race Crank, 10pin, new bearings, and seals. I did use the Jialing CDI, kinda nice! I used the Jialing intake and carb as well, reeds were some pa2 block with Polini reeds. As for the cylinder? Well I ported the shit out of a Italikit, I used a decent looking pipe from Moped Division. The rest was standard fair, stock Jialing pulley and gearbox, stock belt, PA50-2 variator notched with two 8g weights from DOS, and some tougher stock springs in the clutch. Ok this thing is fun! It does like 38, temps are good, its quick, sick! But man the pipe doesnt feel right, something is off....So naturally I stick Evil Steve's shop butt camera in the chamber, what do I see? Naturally the header sticks 6inches into the chamber, time to cut it open. Did that and removed the knub. Now I have a power band! Yay, still doesnt feel great, so I reluctantly added a Proma, well the DOS version. And damn it works, they always work. Hey man why is this thing seizing at like 250*!? Takes cylinder apart, ahhhh the coating is flaking off and catching between the cylinder walls and the piston? Ok, well fuck I have this thing apart might as well toss this rare ass 60cc Autisa cylinder I got from Germany! Cool, little tuning and im doing low 40's. We are approaching not mild territory but whatever, life is good. Oh fuck we are so not good, this damn thing seizes when it hits 300*. Am I fucking cursed? Takes cylinder apart and realizes the ring is way the fuck out of spec, and ahhh the bore is, well straight is not a word I would use to describe it. Long story short, god damnit this is off to the machine shop. Well fuck I have a DOS Botanas kit, toss that on with Derbi head and im back! Ahhh whats all that liquid under the bike? Hobbits dont use any fluids....Its gas, the Walbro carb is fucking bleeding. I am well the fuck past done with this bike now. So I call up Ryan Crank, please sir make me a phbg or cp intake before I snap. Ryan as always comes through, beautiful side shot intake is shipped. To which I add a Steven's Speed Shop 3D printed 90* bend to shoot the carb backwards, I spigot mount a 19PHBG, and god damn now the bike does like 46-48mph and is so god damn far from my original intention of "MILD". But fuck you fate, it rocks, another "Hobbit" done.
