Not a moped, I know, but Dan said to put it up!
This whole thing had to be built in under a month and for less than $1000, which really meant like 15 hours (after work and on weekends when we could) and ~$300 (we ain't got $1k to drop on something like this). This is a '67 Kawasaki Roadrunner 120cc baby enduro that Ryan and I paid a guy $50 for. It had been sitting in his backyard for 20 years, so he said. It had not been registered since new.
The piston was rusted in the cylinder pretty bad, i had to beat it out with a hammer and pipe.
We got a NOS piston, our rings were 2nd over and I had to file them down. Took the bottom end apart to check the seals and assess the insides, everything was old, but looked ok.
We cut the back off, stretched it a bunch, rebuilt, shortened, and stiffened up the front end off a '74 Kawasaki and slapped it on. What else? It's a super fun little 120cc two stroke city blaster. I ripped around SF on it the morning before the Dirtbag Challenge and it's perfect for the city. Way more awesome than a boring Vespa and was getting a ton of attention.
Now that the Dirtbag is over, we'll rebuild the motor to get some fresh seals and bearings in it, put some finishing touches on it (a seat pad would be nice) and ride the crap out of it.
